Match Reports:

24 June - Away v Rudston A

WON 2-7

Winters+Breese 3 points,Coppack+Terry 3 points and Hall+Denton 1 point

The skipper didn't need to get the hairdryer out against a team that are finding life tough in the rarified atmosphere of Division 2. Despite both carrying injuries the Cat and the blond Winters lad sailed through. The skipper had been so stung by the suggestion from this Winters guy that his service could be improved upon that he smote the ball with sufficient ferocity to break a string. However, dependable Julian saw him through. Andrew Denton behaved likewise with tractor boy Jonny and picked up another point in the process.

17 June - Home v Driffield Rec A

LOST 2-7

Winters+Teryy 1 point,Breese+Coppack 1 point,Hall and Denton nil point

Defeat: it's true what they say- it leaves a bitter taste. Thankfully, its a flavour we have become unaccustomed to tasting too much to date this season. However, the victors fully deserved their victory. The reason? Was it the shock decision made last week, in the skipper's absence, to switch from pie to curry? Was it the team stunned by the late injury+withdrawl incurred by The Cat texting excessively to S.E.Asia? Jonny and Andrew battled really well in their first match but there was little else to get too excited about. The team know that they need to get quickly back to their winning ways

3 June - Away v Driffield LTC A

WON 3-6

Breese+A Winters 3 points,I Winters +Catling 3 points, Coppack+Harvey nil points

Another encouraging win on a pleasant evening against a team that had been going on quite nicely. Top billing went to the aggressive pair of Breese+A Winters. The elder Winters lad, Ian, and the sartorially elegant Cat weren't quite at their best but still were undefeated. Dan Harvey made an encouraging debut and may have come home with a point but for the skipper's now routine attack of the yips in a tiebreak. He keeps his place for next week, the skipper doesn't!

27 May - Home v Beverley Town A

WON 5-4

Winters+Catling 3 points,Coppack+Winters 1 point and Breese and Hall 1 point

Another good victory after an evening of competitive tennis. Like last week, success was only secured thanks to the pairing of injured-but-still-smiling Ian and the Cat, who has made the decision to abandon love so that he can focus on his tennis. What an admirable attitude. We also saw a spell of excellent attacking tennis from Aaron against their first pair which ultimately came to nought in a long tie breaker when the skipper got an attack of the yips. Morale is high, our Scottish dieticians are happy and we go onto next week's challenge with confidence

20 May - Home v Pocklington B

WON 5-4

Winters+Catling,3 points.Hall+Terry,1 point and Coppack and Denton,1 point

This was an excellent victory against undefeated promotion-favourites Pocklington, especially as we welcomed 2 new players. Firstly, Andrew Denton, who unleashed a string of unreturnable first serves and showed that he was ready for this standard of tennis. Secondly,a blond lad called Ian, who looked mature for the 21 years he owned up to. Playing with a broad smile, relaxed shoulders and a style that looked vaguely familiar he took 3 points with the returning "Cat". However, it took a gritty final effort from battle hardened warriors, Jonny+Julian to bring home the bacon and secure victory.
