The team playing away against Brandesburton brought home the 3rd win of the season to the Malton C team - winning 7-1. Thomas Brown (1), James Nelson (2) and Xavier Cordingley (3) all won their singles comfortably. Ollie Cordingley (4) played some good tennis but just lost out in his singles, but succeeded well in the pairing with his brother in the doubles. A good time was had by all.
The home team of Lauren Young (1), Eliza Dwyer (2) Jack Boyd (3) and Jacob Stephenson (4) played great tennis against Pocklington on a very warm day, winning the match 5-3. The pairing of Lauren and Eliza proved a difficult combination to beat and Eliza and Jack powered through their singles matches. Jacob had a tough singles match but delivered some tremendous shots. Lauren was named Player of the Match.
The Malton C team of Thomas Brown (1), Xavier Cordingley (2), Josh Hunter (3) and Ollie Cordingley (4) were committed to get the first win of the season. They succeeded well winning 5-3. Xavier did not drop any games in his singles match and the pairing of Thomas and Xavier in the doubles proved too strong for the Hunmanby pairs. Josh (Captain) was a determined player, holding off Hunmanby with good long rallies. His pairing with Ollie in the doubles provided the final win to give Malton the match. Good sportsmanship throughout. Xavier was nominated Man of the Match.
Despite the forecast for rain, the match took place in cloudy, but warm conditions. Driffield fielded a strong, experienced team which led to a 0-8 defeat for the Malton C team. However the home team of Eliza Dwyer (1), Jacob Stephenson (2), Iain Audsley (3) and Edward Hicks (4) put up a courageous fight, with some good long rallies. Eliza was nominated as Player of the Match by the away team. A tremendous effort by all.
The Malton 'C' team put up a commendable fight against Hutton Cranswick on a sunshine and showers day. The result does not reflect the close matches had by all - James Simspon (3) and Sam Batty (4) only losing their singles match and 1 doubles match by 1 game and similarly Lauren Young (1) and James Criddle (2) losing out their doubles match by 1 game. James Simpson was nominated Player of the Match. Great team effort.
